About

Traditional Solutions was created out of a desire to offer patients natural, time tested and effective solutions for managing their health and promoting wellness. Rather than fighting disease, we seek to facilitate the awakening of the body’s own wisdom to foster lasting, profound change.

Matthew WeitzmanMatthew Weitzman, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), the founder of Traditional Solutions, is a New York State-licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.), and board certified Chinese herbologist. He holds a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in biology.

After completing his undergraduate degree with the intention of entering the medical field, Matthew lived and worked throughout China and South East Asia where he developed a passion and respect for traditional East Asian medicine. Through the study of acupuncture, tai chi, and meditation he learned to develop a greater sense of health through intent of mind and body.

Matthew completed clinical internships in the neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation and oncology departments at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  He has since pursued advanced training in acupuncture for the cancer patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage) for pain and injuries . Matthew is among the first licensed acupuncturists on staff at North Shore LIJ hospital in Manhasset and has taught physicians and other health professionals about the use of acupuncture and TCM in an integrative health setting.

In addition to his work with Traditional Solutions, Matthew works as a staff acupuncturist at a comprehensive pain practice in Forest Hills, NY, where he incorporates acupuncture, tui na, and mind-body medicine. Matthew has helped hundreds of patients work through their injuries, overcome their pain and find wellness.

Alexa Weitzman, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM), is a New York State-licensed acupuncturist, a board certified Chinese herbologist and a whole foods educator with an emphasis on Chinese dietary therapy.  She holds a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in studio art from NYU.

Most recently, Alexa worked as a staff acupunturist, research coordinator and program chef at the Integrative Therapies Department for Children with Cancer at Columbia University Medical Center/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. There, she helped develop innovative cooking curricula for child and adolescent cancer survivors. She also collaborated on research initiatives investigating acupuncture and nutritional supplement use in children with cancer. Alexa has received advanced training in applying traditional Chinese medicine to women’s health issues, is a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology, and has co-taught a Chinese Dietary Therapy course in Touro College’s Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine.

Alexa is a firm believer that we are a direct reflection of what we feed ourselves, mentally and physically. In Chinese medicine, she has found food for the body, mind and soul in an elegant and accessible package. Alexa relies heavily on her cooking and food education background to provide patients with simple dietary plans, and the know-how to see them through. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, Reiki and aromatherapy also play heavily in her practice, and with these modalities she has seen patients heal and emerge as stronger, more empowered versions of themselves.
